He walks into his office and she’s there, smiling. “How long are you planning to wait to offer me a job?”

 “Umm…”

“Really, Josh. Do you know how many offers I’ve had?”

He looks away. “I’m… not sure it’s a good idea,” he says quietly.

“Oh.” Silence stretches. “Oh…kay.” She starts to leave but he grabs her elbow.

“Donna…”

“I have to go,” she whispers, holding back tears.

“I can’t wait eight more years.”

“For what?” she asks confused.

His kisses her softly, intensely. “For that,” he whispers. “I’ll think about the job, but…”

“Later,” she says, kissing him again.
